Kinro and Coterie Team Up to Reinvent Insurance Distribution
Kinro's integration with Coterie Insurance went live in three hours, opening a faster path to coverage for small-business owners.

Kinro and Coterie Insurance are working together to make small-business insurance distribution faster, simpler, and more useful for the owners it serves.
On August 7, our teams connected Kinro's brokerage system to Coterie's commercial insurance API. Just three hours after we began working through the integration, it was running in production.
Hemanth Kosari, founding MTS at Kinro, led the integration, working hand in hand with Coterie's Digital Partnerships team, including integration manager Nicole Reents.
Beverly Bisazza works with the Kinro team day to day to move the partnership forward.
Eli Millman, Coterie's Director of Digital Partnerships, replied:
"This may be a new speed record!!"
The speed is worth celebrating and sets the tone for this partnership moving forward.
We share a belief that small-business insurance distribution can work differently. Coterie provides digital underwriting infrastructure built for fast, structured quoting. Kinro is building the broker itself: a persistent system that can understand a business, search available markets, help the owner make a decision, and remain available after the policy is purchased.
The integration connects those two systems directly. In the first weeks of the partnership, policies are already moving quickly, turning a three-hour technical milestone into meaningful coverage for small-business owners.
Small Businesses Need More Than a Faster Form
Small-business insurance has a difficult economic problem. A small policy may require just as much explanation, follow-up, and servicing as a much larger account, while producing far less commission. That leaves many owners doing the work themselves or receiving too little help from a broker with too little time.
A faster digital application helps, but it does not solve the whole problem. The owner still needs someone on their side who can:
- understand how the business actually operates;
- identify the questions that matter;
- search the markets available to them;
- explain price, limits, and exclusions clearly;
- complete the work; and
- support the policy through certificates, changes, and renewal.
Kinro is building that broker for small businesses. AI gives the system the memory, availability, and capacity to serve more owners. Licensed experts provide judgment, set boundaries, and take over when a case requires them. Kinro remains the accountable brokerage responsible for the customer experience.
What Coterie Adds
Coterie's partner APIs are designed for speed and simplicity. They allow approved partners to send structured risk information to Coterie's underwriting platform and receive a clear response without moving the same application through slow, manual systems.
That is important for an autonomous broker. A system cannot deliver a good insurance experience if it spends its time copying information between disconnected forms and portals. It needs dependable connections to carriers and MGAs, explicit underwriting outcomes, and a safe path from accurate intake to a quote the customer can review.
The Coterie integration gives Kinro another path to do that for eligible small businesses.
Distribution Should Improve With Every Customer
Traditional insurance knowledge often stays with one producer. A broker learns a better question, finds an edge case, or discovers how a carrier interprets a risk. That lesson may help the next customer they personally serve, but it rarely improves the whole organization immediately.
Kinro is designed differently. When an expert finds a better question, corrects a workflow, or identifies a situation that needs human review, the lesson can become a shared rule, test, or escalation path. The system can then apply that improvement to every relevant customer.
Carrier integrations are part of that learning loop. Structured responses make it easier to understand what information matters, where a risk fits, why a submission cannot proceed, and which parts of the experience should improve next.
This is what reinventing distribution means to us. It is not simply putting a quote form online. It is connecting distribution, advice, market access, execution, servicing, and learning into one accountable brokerage system.
A Better Path From Question to Coverage
Coterie makes small-commercial underwriting fast and accessible to its partners. Kinro is building an insurance broker that can bring that capability to more small-business owners with clear guidance and continuing support.
The three-hour integration is a sign of what can happen when the infrastructure on both sides is designed for action.
For a business owner, the technology should disappear into a simpler experience: ask a question, explain the business once, understand the available options, and keep moving.
That is the distribution system we are working to build together.
